Combining traditional punk aggression and rebellion with angst-ridden vocals and bittersweet lyrics, HUSKING BEE has established itself as one of the premier acts to come out of Japan's competitive punk scene. Poetic punk rock best describes the honest, raw emotion delivered in their sound.
Formed in July 1994, their 1st full-length album was GRIP which had released from "PIZZA OF DEATH RECORDS": the label which has been run by Hi-Standard. After this debut album, they did their first overseas recording with Mark Trombino in October 1998 for their 2nd album "PUT ON FRESH PAINT" released from TOY'S FACTORY. This album has been sold nearly 150,000 copies as of now. All shows of this tour were sold out and the name of HUSKING BEE has widely spread out. Additionally, playing with some popular international bands such as THE GET UP KIDS, SNUFF, and Mr. T EXPERIENCE had made the band acquire various audiences. Like this, they were earning an international reputation and were proposed to do live shows abroad.
In March 1999, they made an appearance on SxSw with their label mate Back Drop Bomb. They got great responses from the media, especially from local TV and radio stations, and the album had been released from DOG HOUSE RECORDS in the U.S. In October 1999, the single "THE SUN and THE MOON" had hit the Japanese national chart ranked 9th in the first release week, and also had been released from DOG HOUSE Records as well. In June, they released a limited split single with an American band POLLEN from their own label "ini".
In October 2000, they released the 3rd album "Four Color Problem" with having a new member Kazuya Hirabayashi (Vo./G.). This 3rd album and the following 4th album "the steady-state theory"(2002) had also been recorded, mixed and produced by Mark, and in addition to that, they had been doing live shows energetically.
In April 2004, HUSKING BEE released the 5th full-length album gvariandanteh, which had been also recorded, mixed and produced by Mark as expected. The lyrics of this album were all written in Japanese and featured by the unique phrases created by Masahumi Isobe (Vo./G.) and the atmospheric feeling of words created by Kazuya Hirabayashi(Vo./G.). Their lyrics perfectly have matched the mood of Mark's heavy and sharp-edged music, which create very unique sound. Also the band kept doing more and more gigs enthusiastically, including Fuji Rock Festival 2004 and COUNTDOWN JAPAN 04/05.
In January 2005, they suddenly announced their disbandment at a showcase gig in Zepp Tokyo. Many followers crowded to the last tour from February through March to share their qualified performances till the last moment. Their best album gANTHOLOGY 1994-2004h, which was released after the tour in March, compiled their splendid works of over ten yearsf history, including rare tracks of their indie years. The last issue was the DVD album g050306h which completely featured their very last live on March 6th at Zepp Tokyo and four video clips.

Masafumi Isobe has been doing his own project CORNER since 2003. He has started another new band called MARS EURYTHMICS since 2006. Kazuya Hirabayashi has been leading the band FINE LINES, of which Tetsuya Kudo, a.k.a. Tekkin is a member.
In March 2007, the tribute album to Husking Bee will be expected by many artists, including self-tributes by MARS EURYTHMICS and FINE LINES.
