Samurai Troops is a unique community of five MC’s and a DJ, each of them has strong personality:
Takatsuki is a MC, who has been running his own label “n records”. His source is rooted in the jazz and soul idiom, and his style of spoken-word-like rap together with the wood base in his hands is really unique and praiseworthy. He has released two original solo albums so far. He’s a member of SUIKA, a mixture band of poetry and rap, at the same time.
Y.O.G (MC/vocal/track maker) is a current leader of the group. This many-talented but single-minded guy has also released his first solo album in 2004.
Meteor who handles good porno rhyme with his freaky voice is one of the most eccentric MC’s in Japanese hip hop scene. Confidently sticking to only the rap style, he has been developing his career as a member of DMR and MURAKAMI POSSE, as well as a solo artist.
Zom is a flexible MC who plays a citrus spice among the scene. He not only takes a frontal attack with rap but also laces raps and melodies, possibly as gospel music lies at his root.
The last MC is ZOE. His incisive rap delivered from the modest appearance is definitely noticeable. Zom and ZOE have been forming another unit called SYPHON CODE.
Finally, Katoukeita is the third DJ of the group, who’s a man of extraordinary abilities to make tracks, scratch, and crack jokes. Light and easy, while sensitive sound of Samurai Troops owes much to him.

After over four year’s of kaleidoscopic activities based on “n records”, Samurai Troops has released the album “BEATNIKS” from Toy’s Factory in October 2006, which is their awaited major debut. Every track on this album shows you their stimulating track making skills, involving samples from a wide variety of genres. There appears a prominent guest list; SONPUB (known as a producer of Def Tech), EVISBEAT (known by works on KREVA’s solo album), Ridimix (known by works with Shonan No Kaze), MC WISE from TERIYAKI BOYS, and Spinna-BILL showing soulful vocalization. Including whatever you want, from edgy and loud number through medium tracks which they’re best at to relaxing and mellow tune, this album definitely will not only represent the scene but create a stir into the mainstream.
