RED RICE
WAKA-DAN-NA
SHOCK EYE
HAN-KUN
RED RICE brought Reggae / Hip Hop on focus, after going through hardcore, punk, and ska core, when he was deadly impressed by an event.
WAKA-DAN-NA was one of Reggae freaks as his friends. Long stay in Jamaica turned him devoted to hardcore style.
SHOCK EYE was a Hip Hop DJ, who found himself doing MC following his fellow guysf invitation.
HAN-KUN's first encounter with Reggae music was at his hometown Shonan, where he was dancing. A girlfriend of one of his friends was in a car and was listening to "Untold Stories" by Buju Banton.
RED RICE and HAN-KUN teamed up first, then SHOCK EYE joined. While WAKA-DAN-NA managed a Reggae bar, he came across with SHOCK EYE at Chigasaki, both had been classmates at their junior and senior high school.
Thus their story began, with the unit name which literally means a breezing air of that famous bay area.
All tracks on their first album "SHONAN NO KAZE -Real Riders-" (July 2003) were self-produced and featuring many gorgeous artists from within and without the Reggae scene. In 2004, after two singles, the second album gSHONAN NO KAZE -Raga Parade-g came out in August and hit 5th place at Oricon album chart. This hit made everyone in Reggae freaks pay attention to their next two singles released in 2005, gKarasuh and gSabotenh. The wind was perfectly favorable for them in the year 2006. Their fifth single gJunrenkah in March hit second place at release week in Oricon single chart and kept its position within tenth rank for eleven weeks. It has sold over six hundred thousands copies as of today. gSHONAN NO KAZE -Riderfs High-g, the long-awaited third album released in August of the year, ranked at the first place of Oricon album chart, and has sold over six hundred thousands units so far. Almost tracks on this album were recorded in Jamaica. Edgy and high-tension, and sometimes relaxing tunes match perfectly their own lyrics written in Japanese, expressing their unsophisticated but hot souls.
